USA - Paris and More Liberated - 23 May to 02 Oct 1941
23 Aug 1941: Research has been completed on Advanced Oil Processing....
....and I select Advanced Rubber Processing next.My current Research projects. The Germans have managed to conquer parts of the Maginot line. One piece N. of Strasbourg and one piece East of Metz. Maybe Metz as well. On our left flank we are very close to Paris and west of Paris one State is defended by only 1 German division.
We attack Paris from the West including neighbouring States so the German defences are immobile.
24 Aug 1941: Long overdue.
I add 2nd Armoured Division to the assault. One thrust from Rouen has hopefully 5 days to succeed....
....and a second thrust should prevail in 8 days but 2nd Armoured Division hasn't joined the battle yet.
27 Aug 1941; With 2nd Armoured Division it is 3 days to a breakthrough. I've also started several battles to thr Southeast to prevent the 'migration' of German divisions to Paris.
30 Aug 1941: The Germans are defending stubbornly. I've now added 4th Armoured Division to the attack.
The attack from Rouen should succeed within the next 24 hours.
02 Sep 1941: Both attacks have prevailed and we are at the gates of Paris which is also being attacked.
03 Sep 1941: Paris is about to fall.
05 Sep 1941: Paris has been liberated and we are still advancing. We still have the annoying shortage of Support Equipment. Further East we are pushing towards Troyes. Another major rail junction.
08 Sep 1941: Look at all those high 'green' numbers.
11 Sep 1941: We have advanced NW of Paris and the thrust South of Paris should soon prevail.
12 Sep 1941: A good sign is that the Germans aren't counterattacking. No reserves?
18 Sep 1941: The French have won a Naval Battle in the Bay of Biscay.
We also have attacks further East with Besancon being threatened.
19 Sep 1941: The Germans are counterattacking SW of Troyes but I send reinforcements to counter them.
20 Sep 1941: We have stopped the German counterattack and we are now pushing towards Troyes.
23 Sep 1941: Paris is securely in our hands and we are attacking to the East and Southeast of Paris. The fresh 5th Armoured Division has arrived in France and I order it to Paris where the 1st US Armoured Corps is located.
27 Sep 1941: The 1st Armoured Corps has broken through the German lines and is now attacking Reims. Troyes is under attack and there is a gap in the German lines NE of Troyes. Can we exploit it?
28 Sep 1941: There is another gap between Amiens and Lille. I hope the French move in there.
02 Oct 1941: The Focus Naval Radar has been completed.
Troyes is seriously threatened and we are marshalling forces to capture Reims.
I select the Focus Lousiana Maneuvers next.
Our deficit of Support Equipment is now less and I've set 5th Armoured Division in motion.
The Germans are probably calling this campaign Black September.
