Allies - The Battle for Moscow (I) - 19 Aug to 31 Aug 1941

19 Aug 1941: The USA is still a long way from assuming command of the Allies faction. I'll kick them out if they get too near.
The Grand Offensive begins with Army Centre's operations plan. We are advancing on Smolensk.
In the Army North the prime mission is to cover Army Centre's left flank and hope that the Americans on its left flank also advance.
Army South's goal is to capture Stalingrad and cities to the north and south.
Army Kuban needs to cross the Kerch Straits, link up with Army South and capture Krasnograd.
The big picture with plans for all four Armies.
22 Aug 1941: Army Kuban is about to successfully cross the Kerch Straits. Army South has a very long frontline to cover so its left flank will not advance quickly. I'm hoping that successes to the north will force them to retreat or be encircled.
There are a lot of Swiss divisions assisting Army Centre and US Forces in the north are active.
Now that is heaven sent. Hopefully Leningrad is weakly defended.
I deploy 3 new RAF Squadrons north of Kiev.
24 Aug 1941: Great! Leningrad has fallen to Finnish forces.
26 Aug 1941: I send 250K forces. Army Kuban has made it over the Kerch Straits and is attacking eastwards.
27 Aug 1941: Finland cannot join the Allies because it isn't Democratic enough. Sad.
They are advancing beyond Leningrad though.
The Soviets are now 45% towards capitulation but there's still a long way to go.
28 Aug 1941: We have completed Carrier Focus...
....and I select the Focus Expand the Repair Yards next.
One division has been cut off but it can easily be relieved.
Progress is slow in front of Army South but that is to be expected.
Great progress in the Kuban region. Soviet forces are being crushed between us and Turkish forces.
A closer view of the Kuban. Army South is venturing much too far south. I'll have to remedy that but first Army Kuban must breakout of its bridgehead over the Kerch Straits.
30 Aug 1941: I've drawn a new 'advance-to' line for Army North and it includes Moscow.
31 Aug 1941: In the south we are almost in Stalingrad (red dot, bottom-right) while our advance in the centre is making great progress.
I'm pleased with our advance so far. Finland's entry into the war is a real blessing.
