Italy - Pacify Ethiopia Mission - FYI

Why I won't succeed . I should have started this in 1936!

Guide to Pacify Ethiopia Mission:

Start with Ethiopian War Logistics (so funny this is in the tree and in the top left like the old Italian tree) and then get Italian Highways. Once "Solid Progress" focus is completed, go for "Servizio Informazioni Militare". Once Ethiopia has capitulated, get "Triumph in Africa". Because you don't have the Colonial Police yet, use Military Governor or Martial Law in Ethiopia, Eritrea, and the Somali Sultanate to keep garrison losses to a minimum. You may want to consider Giovanni Marinelli as an advisor who cuts down on garrison losses. Put your spies in Ethiopia with the Root Out Resistance mission and keep an eye on where the most resistance is happening.

Now, you have to click a thing every 30 days. Look at Ethiopia on the map and make sure the Decisions menu is open. There are various project buttons you can click (icon looks like an electrical tower with the shape of Ethiopia behind it). You will need to do the 10 projects in Ethiopia only which means NOT Afar, Eritrea, or Somaliland. There is no reminder, so make sure you click one every 30 days for the next 300 days which costs 25 political power each. The order doesn't really matter, but it probably doesn't hurt to always do the project in the lowest-compliance region first (use the flag view in the lower right to see compliance levels). I have attached a screenshot with the 10 projects you need to do labeled.

Next, get "The New Emperor of Ethiopia". The New Emperor unlocks the "Discredit Haile Selassie" decision which can and should be done 2x a year. With the current bugged state of the decision reminder (hammer icon), you have to stay on top of this - it is critical to your success. Next take "Topple Amhara Rulers" which will cause events to pop up from time to time. When they do, the option you want to click is "Granting some concessions might satisfy the locals" - this costs political power, will add compliance in the area they are from, will maybe give you a general, but will add resistance.

Next, get "Ministry of Italian Africa". In my run, this was in October 8, 1936. This will grant the Colonial Police garrison law; click the "Recruit them" button when this finishes to automatically set it in appropriate areas. Now you have some choices. Depending on how much time you have left to finish the mission, take as many of the "Develop" focuses as you can. You will get civs infrastructure, and even naval bases (where possible) in each of the areas you already developed when you eventually take Regional Development. Note: the wording sounds like you can only get a bonus in up to two of them, but it actually means you get up to two civs in each of the ones you develop. If you develop all four first, you get 6 civs and 5 naval bases when you take Regional Development which is pretty awesome (see screenshot). If the Industrialization Program mission has popped up, this will easily finish it without you having to build any civs at all.

After Regional Development is done, get Polizia dell'Africa Italiana and keep doing the 30 day projects and 180 day discredit decisions, and the mission to pacify Ethiopia should be successful. In my game, I was successful by March 17, 1938 using this strategy with 71 days remaining, but I had to basically dedicate all of my attention and focuses to it. I think this approach may only be compatible with a long Italy strategy - not early aggressive Italy.
