I should have started researching
Fuel Refining II a long time ago. A big oversight!
The technologies I need most are both 6 months away.
05 Jun 1940: The beginning of the first encirclement west of Kiev. My strategy is to thrust towards Moscow and Stalingrad while holding my northern frontline. I don't what to help the Allies breakout of Latvia. They have to do that on their own. Hopefully I can destroy more divisions than the Soviets can produce.
Our German-Soviet War is still undecided at the moment - but that will change when we capture Kiev, Moscow and Stalingrad.
06 Jun 1940: We accept Lend Lease from Romania. Bottom-left Zhytomyr is about to fall and the road north and east is wide open.
08 Jun 1940: The Panzer-Divisionen are now free to link up.
Another breakthrough has been achieved SW of Kiev.
Odessa has fallen and the Soviet left flank is falling apart.
09 Jun 1940: The UK is dominating Dutch trade again - we counter.
In the centre the encirclement has been completed and our forces are probing eastwards.
10 Jun 1940: Kiev has fallen.
11 Jun 1940: That large pocket of Soviet forces needs to be neutralized. Our advance is leaving the infantry behind.
13 Jun 1940: We accept Lend Lease from Hungary.
18 Jun 1940: The pocket is now much smaller and we are in the process of mopping up....
....while Soviet forces in the northern pocket have been eliminated.
The situation in the south looks chaotic because the frontlines of the three allied armies are all intermingled. I need to fix that before we thrust towards Stalingrad and Sevastopol.
The scales have tipped and we are clearly winning. Look at the Soviet losses!
I need to emphasize who is fighting who. Germany is at war with the Soviets and their Comintern allies including Bulgaria. The Soviet Union is the only major power so when they are defeated the other nations will also fold. Theoretically we are then no longer at war.
France (and Comintern) is at war with the British Empire - we are not.
Italy is at war with the British Empire too....
....and so is Turkey.
The Soviets are fighting two wars. One against the British Empire and also the Axis faction.
Hungary is only at war with Comintern nations.
The same applies to Romania.
Under no circumstances do I want to join the Soviet-British War. Phase 2 in the next post.
