Germany - The Advance on Moscow and Stalingrad (I) - 22 Jul to 13 Aug 1940

22 Jul 1940: We have captured Smolensk - an important city on the road to Moskva. The Soviet defences on the northern front are so weak that our holding force can now advance.
The central front with our goal in sight. Moscow!
The southern front with Stalingrad only a couple of 100 km away but the Caucasus with Russian Oil is also an strategic goal.
31 Jul 1940: We've reached the Don river and south of Rostow we are in the Kuban advancing south and east.
In the middle of the front two armies are heading to Moscow as planned-
Armee Nord is keeping up the pressure in the north.
02 Aug 1940: Busy fighting each other instead of the Wehrmacht.
I appear to have given the two armies the wrong name - anyway, it is tempting to send more reserves here to support the successes but capturing Moscow and nearby cities has priority.
10 Aug 1940: Research has been completed on the Heinkel He 177 'Greif'....
....and we select the 'Junkers Ju 87 G Kannonenvogel' next.
I deploy these 10 Garrison Divisions early and assign them to the Warsaw region.
The British have invaded northern France.
I also assign a few more divisions to Armee Czech because of increased Resistance.
I have to remind the Dutch again....
....and the Soviets are now 38% towards capitulation with way over 1 million losses.
The Italians have landed in southern Turkey....
....and in SE Asia the French are advancing into east Burma.
13 Aug 1940: The Global Balance and we are still #2 behind the UK because of their superior aircraft numbers.
We are making excellent progress towards our main objectives but I won't let myself get distracted.
