Allies - Heavy Cruiser and Trouble Brewing in the Balkans - 06 Oct to 15 Oct 1939

06 Oct 1939: I assign 34th Indian Division to Army Africa. This Army covers the entire African continent and is vastly undermanned.
I mentioned that in a previous post but this caught my eye....
....Bulgaria has war goals against Greece. I can't remember receiving a warning.
So I take a look at Bulgaria. They are justifying war goals against Yugoslavia! They can launch on the 17th of March next year and I know that the independence of Yugoslavia is guaranteed by France, which also controls Italy. What a mess.
I decide to move Army Libya to the Macedonian border with Bulgaria within striking distance of the Bulgarian capital Sofia.
07 Oct 1939: That looks good.
08 Oct 1939: Our allies already have 110 aircraft there so I'll dispatch 25th Squadron with 50 Hurricane fighters to help out.
09 Oct 1939: They have a good range and can complete their training there.
Unfortunately we don't have particularly good relations with Yugoslavia but we could guarantee their independence. Food for thought. I don't want France to drag them into the Comintern.
I decide to transfer three Indian Divisions....
....to the newly designated Army Macedonia. FM Richard O'Connor is one of our best. He advanced all the way to Budapest earlier this year.
11 Oct 1939: Back at the Admiralty two Destroyers are assigned to the Reserve Fleet....
....and HMS Spearfish, the first of our new Submarines, is assigned to 2nd Submarine Flotilla.
This is what a barebones 1940 Cruiser Hull looks like....
....but add the larger engine, the extra armour, an extra main turret and ASROC Sonar et voilĂ .
I put it in production, borrowing Dockyards from other programs. Note that I have changed the names to Light and Heavy Cruiser.
All I need now are extra Dockyards and I have planned 3x2.
15 Oct 1939: The Cruiser HMS Fiji is assigned to the Reserve Fleet....
....while an early Destroyer HMS Vanquisher is assigned to the Rosyth Escort Force.
Finally 20th Indian Division is reunited with Army ANZAC in Port Said.
Quite a busy post but it looks like we are going back to war next Spring.
