Germany - Italy Invades Greece and Soviet Alert - 05 Oct to 17 Oct 1940

05 Oct 1940: We are still attacking E. of Jyvaskylä.
09 Oct 1940: Now the Soviets are counterattacking.
11 Oct 1940: I order 18. Panzer-Division to cover our left flank NW of Jyvaskylä.
12 Oct 1940: The Finns also react to that potential danger.
13 Oct 1940: Together with the Finns we attack the Soviet Cavalry Division.
14 Oct 1940: The Soviets have reinforced their position with a Mountain Division. We are again attacking E. of Jyvaskylä.
15 Oct 1940: My divisions are resting for the moment.
16 Oct 1940: The Soviets are attacking again with 5 divisions against 2 Sturm-Divisionen. I send the 15. Panzer-Division to help.
17 Oct 1940: First Italy invades Greece, as if they don't have enough problems at the moment, then Yugoslavia, an ally of France, asks to join the Tripartite Pact which I don't belong to. I agree to it. It contains Anti-Soviet measures.
Greece joins the French Alliance.
Damn! The Soviets are justifying a war against us - or an ally.
The Italo-Greek frontline. They appear to be getting nowhere fast.
I send the Greeks a Lend Lease package including Flammpanzer I's.
Time to respond by forming a frontline at the Soviet border. Armee Nord first.
Next are Armee Nordost....
....and Armee Mitte.
The Alpine Armee is next.
The trained 933. Infanterie-Division (mot.) is assigned to III. Panzerkorps.
I'm not unready for a war with the Soviet Union but I would prefer to wait until I decide when.
