Germany - A Desperate Measure - 12 Aug to 27 Aug 1940
12 Aug 1940: Just checking the progress. It's slow.
My Logistics chart and Support Equipment is always a problem. We are still attacking eastwards from Lappeenranta. I add 18. Panzer-Division to the battle.
13 Aug 1940: We advanced! Two Soviet Rifle Divisions are cut off.
16 Aug 1940: One of the Rifle Divisions has been destroyed but the 18. Panzer-Division is under heavy attack.
19-22 Aug 1940: The 18. Panzer-Division has been pushed back but the attack on the lone Soviet Division continues.
23 Aug 1940: We won that battle but the Soviets are counterattacking. We are in a Mannerheim Wall fortress which helps our defence.
I send the 18. Panzer-Division westwards to counter a Soviet threat at Mikkeli.
25 Aug 1940: The 20. Panzer-Division has been pushed back but we are still successfully defending the fortress.
I order the 15. Panzer-Division to Mikkeli.
27 Aug 1940: Research has been completed on Advanced Machine Tools....
....and I select Concentrated Industry III next.
The pressure is building but we are still holding the line.
Bulgaria wants to join the Axis so we invite them....
....and they accept.
It's time to reform our defences further west.
I send captured Czech equipment to Yugoslavia via Lend Lease.
In an act of desperation I commence justifying a war against the Soviet Union. I hope it will cause Joe Stalin to transfer divisions to our common border thus relieving the pressure in Finland.
Yugoslavia accepts the Lend Lease. I've just noticed that the Soviets have occupied Latvia and Estonia. When did that happen?
Don't worry about the justification. I shall cancel it.
