Germany - The Fall Of Kiev - 06 Apr to 21 Apr 1941

06 Apr 1941: We are SE of Minsk and 4 more Soviet divisions are about to be encircled,
To the north 2. Panzerarmee is attacking Daugavpils and Soviet forces SW of the city.
We sank 2 Soviet Submarines off the Swedish coast near Visby.
07 Apr 1941: There's no organized resistance left in former Lithuania. Daugavpils and Minsk will soon be captured.
10 Apr 1941: I change the Conscription Law to Extensive Conscription which will double the amount of recruits being called up.
The next Dockyards will go to Light Cruiser production.
11 Apr 1941: Three Soviet divisions are encircled (and doomed) in Proskuriv. We are now advancing towards Kiev and Odessa in Ukraine.
12 Apr 1941: Hopefully Sweden will agree.
12 Apr 1941: Proskuriv has fallen and the divisions used can now thrust southeastwards from Vinnytsia.
I plan an airborne assault to capture Kiev.
13 Apr 1941: Kiev is defended by a single Rifle Division but ground forces will soon link up with the Fallschirmkorps.
15 Apr 1941: Gebirgs Armee operations. North of Zhytomyr 8 Soviet divisions have been encircled.
Soviet forces which advanced into SE Stanislawow have been neutralized and 69. Infanterie-Division can now continue to advance eastwards.
Look at Soviet losses compared to ours and the war is progressing 10% in our favour.
Excellent news.
Battles at the border between 2. Armee and 3. Armee.
We shall soon breakthrough SE of Vinnytsia and I support the attack on Kiev with 169. Infanterie-Division.
In the north we have captured Latvian Daugavpils and I order 12. Panzer-Division eastwards to widen the breach.
17 Apr 1941: Elements of 1. Armee are attacking Soviet forces SW of Daugavpils.
Our forces have advanced deep into occupied Estonia and I want to encircle Soviet division in western Estonia.
In the South the 7. Panzer-Division has captured Mozyr and is ordered to encircle 3 Soviet divisions N. of the city.
Kiev should fall within a day and 3. Gebirgs-Division is ordered North to capture Chernigov.
21 Apr 1941: Finally. Kiev has fallen. The Soviet defences are relatively weak in Ukraine and I hope to take advantage of it.
Three weeks into the war and we have made good progress.
