Russia - A Strategy Paper - 23 Aug 1939

    Today, 03 Sep 2023, marks the 84th Anniversary of the beginning of World War II. In the HOI4 campaign Russia and France plus our allies defeated Germany in July 1939 without the help of the British Empire or the United States of America. 

    We have annexed East Prussia, Saxony, Lower and Upper Silesia as well as Livonia, Hungary and Albania.  Also we have Romania and Yugoslavia plus a Soviet Italy in Comintern. The latter is a Soviet puppet. In Africa we have annexed Eritrea, Western Libya plus the Dodecanese Islands in the Aegean Sea. It will take a while to organize all these new territories.

    France and Czechoslovakia are still in Comintern but because they are Democracies they will probably leave soon. France, and the UK, will soon be occupied in the Far East defending their colonies against Japanese expansion. I have to decide on my position towards Japan because I don't want to antagonize the Allies or the USA.

    My aim is to build a powerful Soviet Union with a modern military. The last thing I want to do is go to war against Finland or in southern Asia. My biggest concern is Italy because they may embark on a Balkan strategy and drag us into a new war. I shall probably kick Italy out of Comintern.
