Germany - Unternehmen Barbarossa (II) - 02 May to 01 Jun 1940
02 May 1940: Welcome home, guys!
I assign them to Armee Baltik and order them to the frontline.
05 May 1940: Now their army's commander has been taken ill. It is a reserve army though.
09 May 1940: The Mariana Islands request is also ignored. Soviet forces in Latvia are fighting a losing battle. Four more divisions have been trapped NE of Minsk.
10 May 1940: Maintaining the pressure.
15 May 1940: A major victory for our forces. The fall of Kiev!
The Luftwaffe has gained the Hunt and Destroy doctrine.
16 May 1940: Manchukuo's request is also ignored. Another 9 Soviet divisions have been encircled NW of Kiew.
I select Combat Unit Destruction next, again for the Luftwaffe.
17 May 1940: In Latvia the Soviets are about to lose 22 more divisions. Can they be replaced quickly enough?
19 Nay 1940: The Luftwaffe can now produce the Messerschmitt Me 410 Hornisse. A capable long-range fighter.
I select the Fw-190 fighter next.
My research projects as of 19 May 1940,
27 May 1940: Our forces in the central sector of the front. I count 16 UK divisions there. They appear to be on a sight-seeing tour!
30 May 1940: My focus Air Innovations II has been completed. Wow! The Allies appear to have taken Leningrad!
An insult, They have to free themselves like Germany did!
I select the National Focus Großraumwirtschaft next.
The Soviet losses are almost 700K compared to our 57K!
We advance deeper into Russia and agree to a non-aggression pact with Latvia.
31 May 1940: Our forces are entering Crimea and the Italians have made an amphibious in the Caucasus. Mussolini is stepping out of line again.
01 Jun 1940: Sicily is becoming a problem but it can be dealt with later. We also have fuel shortages in Belarus where the Soviets have gained air-superiority.
We have to remind the Dutch again!
Soviet losses continue to increase while we have no extra losses. 30K in 2 days!
I take a break here. The Soviets have fallen behind the Japanese - the new #3.
Germany and England are still vying for the #1 spot. Their air power is formidable.
