Germany - The End in Spain - 06 Jan to 13 Mar 1939
06 Jan 1938: In other words Republican Spain is 40% towards capitulation.
07 Jan 1939: The pocket north of Madrid has been cleared and Valencia will soon be recaptured. I move 2. and 3. Panzer-Divisionen eastwards to support an offensive along the coast.
22 Jan 1939: We control Valencia again and we have punched a hole in the Republican frontline. Their losses from the two large encirclements have made their line thin on troops.
26 Jan 1939: Exploiting the gap.
02 Feb 1939: Mopping up. 1. Panzer-Division launches a thrust towards Murcia.
04 Feb 1939: The breach is expanding. Apart from Alicante there is little or no resistance.
08 Feb 1939: 2. and 3. Panzer-Divisionen are ordered to take Granada while 1. Panzer-Division will advance along the coast to Malaga via Almeria.
13 Feb 1939: Now 71% towards capitulation.
I form a 'front' and plan an offensive towards Sevilla. Their provisional capital.
23 Feb 1939: 1. Panzer-Division has almost reached Malaga and 16. Infanterie-Division is marching towards Granada. To the north we need to widen the breach.
24 Feb 1939: A quick glimpse at recruitment.
A more detailed view of Panzerarmee 1's plans.
27 Feb 1939: We invite Bulgaria to join the Axis....
….and much to the consternation of Italy Bulgaria accepts our offer.
28 Feb 1939: We have researched Improved Fire Control System....
….and turning to our economy we start researching Advanced Machine Tools next.
07 Mar 1939: Sevilla has been captured by 1. Panzer-Division. It's next goal is Cordoba, the new Republican capital.
It's almost over for Republican Spain.
11 Mar 1939: The Cypher for Italy has been decrypted which gives us more intel of their activities.
12 Mar 1939: Japan declares war on China. Not really unexpected.
Cordoba has fallen to columns from 1. Panzer-Division.
13 Mar 1938: The Treaty of Laayoune formalizes the new situation.
The headlines in the World News.
We say adios to Spain and return to central Europe.
