Poland - Advancing Into Ukraine - 14 Feb to 01 Mar 1941

14 Feb 1941: Kiew has fallen and we are using two forward airfielda near Kiew and Odessa.

We are also advancing in the Centre although there is more resistance.

The Land Doctrine Prepared Defence has been unlocked.

Reserve Army starts a thrust towards Orel and Kursk.

An attack from Vinnytsia heads towards Crimea to support Army Kawalerii.

The attack on Odessa is also supported.

15 Feb 1941: A third attack south of Kiew is launched towards Dnipropetrowsk.

17 Feb 1941: Dnipropetrowsk will soon fall and the attacks in SW Ukraine are making good progress.

We are also advancing in Belarus. Its capital Minsk is about to be captured and we are nearing Vitebsk and Smolensk.

I order the 4. Armoured Division to advance on Gomel through Bobruysk.

The Greeks will soon capitulate and we are now officially fighting and have suffered 1K casualties.

18 Feb 1941: In the Centre we have encountered Soviet Armour and are facing a stiffer defence.

19 Feb 1941: North of Kiew the Reserve Army advance has little resistance to block its route towards Orel and Kursk.

20 Feb 1941: Cherkasy and Dnipropetrowsk and the road to Kharkov is wide open. We have to secure our left flank though. Six Cavalry Brigades South of Poltava but we shall soon remedy that. We are advancing too fast without securing flanks. Our allies are mostly spectators again and our forces are not as numerous as those of the Wehrmacht in my previous campaigns.

24 Feb 1941: We are attacking Sumy in order to link up with our forces in Kharkov.

27 Feb 1941: We have a large Tank battle in the Mozyr-Bobruysk region. 

The new 93. Infantry Division has been deployed and placed in training.

28 Feb 1941: I import Tungsten from Portugal and Rubber from British Malaya.

That looks a lot better.

28 Feb 1941: The large Tank battle is still confusing but I believe we have the upper hand with allies now supporting more.

01 Mar 1941: Thankyou Austria-Hungary. We are reinforcing our attack on Mozyr. Notice the Bf 109's ensuring Air Superiority. In fact I can't remember seeing any Soviet aircraft.

We have made excellent progress in Southern Ukraine. We have captured Odessa, Dnipropetrovsk and Mykolaiv. Kryvyi Rih and Zaporozne are our next objectives.

Odessa is an important city/port on our way to the Kuban.

 Our battles in the South have been very successful but we have resistance in the Centre.
