Turkey - The Global Situation - August 1920

This alternative history is much different from our real-life version of the Great War. Significantly there has been a 2nd Great War in 1920 and the global situation now is totally different mainly because the Central Powers were victorious in both wars, the United States remained neutral in both wars and the United Kingdom joined the Central Powers in the second conflict.

The good news is that there are no Communist nations in the world....

....and the Russian Empire (or what is left of it) and its puppet Mongolia are the only Fascist nations.

In Europe there are 10 nations with an Authoritarian government and all except Denmark and Ukraine are in the Central Powers faction. Ukraine and is the only nation without a monarchy.

Finally there are 13 democracies and the most powerful one (the United Kingdom) is a member of the Central Powers. There was no Versailles Treaty therefore the main cause for World War II didn't happen!

In Hearts of Iron IV events are mainly determined by the National Focus Trees and each nation has one. It provides a framework within which each nation can operate. Other factors are of course wars which may trigger other events but also events which have a percentage chance of being triggered.

Here is the Italian Focus Tree. The March on Rome won't happen because the was no Versailles so how does Mussolini come to power and how can there be an Abyssinian Crisis if Italy isn't Fascist?

Take Austria-Hungary. The AI didn't choose to Contest the Emperor's Authority so that whole chain of events can't happen via the Focus Tree.

Germany has problems too. There can't be a Bier Hall Putsch because there was no Versailles therefore there will be no Mein Kampf and no Hitler.

What Germany can do is choose Imperialism then Game of Thrones which will allow the Kaiser to claim the Holy Roman Empire, the Teutonic Order then modern day Crusades against....oh that's me!

Furthermore how does the 1934 Night of the Long Knives happen?

If that is somehow achieved the Rhineland Focus presents no problem for military advancement. On the other hand the political Focusses are mostly silly because there is no Czechoslovakia, no Poland and Austria is not an independent nation.

France only has to wait for the Wall Street Crash to happen although it will severely cripple their options too.

British options are very limited too because of no Versailles Treaty.

Nor is the Persian option available while at peace with the Ottoman Empire.

I haven't even tried to figure out United States but here is their Focus Tree.

All Japan can do at the moment is Claim Pacific Islands or Leave Entente (which will probably be bypassed). But they are a puppet at the moment.

China is interesting because the Political Effort branch is still wide open. Maybe they can recreate Communism.

My options are limited too but there is the Anti-Italian Policy branch as well as the Arabian branch.

The Russian Empire is complex. I don't believe that they can recreate Communism but could they go Fascist?

There are two main factors to consider. The Focus Trees will no longer be major policy maker and because the World Tension is at 100% even Democracies can start justifying war goals.

As for the Ottoman Empire peace is the prime goal but who knows what other nations will do. It might sound crazy but maybe we really have fought the war to end all wars.....
