Germany - Spanish Civil War - 18 Feb to 17 Apr 1938

18 Feb 1938: I send more aircraft to Nationalist Spain via Lend-lease. These are German aircraft which at home are being replaced by Bf109s and He111s.
19 Feb 1938: They are accepted of course.
21 Feb 1938: The Government Cypher School up grades the Abwehr. Our forces are pushing towards Zaragoza.
We can send more volunteers to Rommel, up to 4 divisions.
General Kesselring will accompany them. Included are 100 Bf109's and 50 Ju87 Stukas.
3. Panzer-Division attacks south in order to threaten Zaragoza from two sides.
A more detailed view of the battle.
25 Feb 1938: 1. Panzer-Division joins the attack.
28 Feb 1938: The Spaniards counterattack but we can hold the line.
05 Mar 1938: The push south was successful and we can shrug off their counters.
07 Mar 1938: Kesselring's Infanteriekorps has arrived in Galicia.
Their first destination is Burgos.
08 Mar 1938: We are the top row and we are also the aggressors and war is going ca. 25% in our favour.
11 Mar 1938: Still having difficulties.
15 Mar 1938: Panzerkorps Rommel is being attacked by 5 Spanish divisions but it can hold the line.
17 Mar 1938: Kesselring's Korps won't arrive in Burgos for another 31 days!
22 Mar 1938: Civil war in Mexico!
Now 27% in our favour!
24 Mar 1938: The entire Panzerkorps attacks north across the river.
01 Apr 1938: The attack is successful but they cannot advance yet because a counterattack from Zaragoza is pinning them down.
03 Apr 1938: Kesselring's Korps has arrived in Burgos and receives further orders..
08 Apr 1938: With fresh troops we can expand our corridor.
12 Apr 1938: Zaragoza is now under increased pressure. 10. Infanterie-Division is sent to support the attack.
I decide to combine the two Korps with Rommel as the commander.
Done. We are attacking north, east and south.
15 Apr 1938: The whole front in one pic.
17 Apr 1938: I send more troops across the river because I want the airfield north of Zaragoza. We can then threaten Zaragoza from three sides.
More from Spain in then next post.
